Qurum Beach is Muscat’s main city beach, a wide ribbon of pale sand running west from the rocky Qurum headland past Shatti Al Qurum and the big beach hotels. The water is calm for much of the year, and behind the beach lie the Qurum Natural Park and a small protected mangrove lagoon.
It is not a resort beach with sunloungers for hire so much as the city’s living room: in the late afternoon Omanis and expats come to walk, jog, play football and watch the sun drop behind the headland. Cafés and restaurants line the road behind the sand in Shatti Al Qurum.
