Muscat.com exists because Oman deserves more than a layover. It is an independent travel guide covering Muscat and the wadis, islands, mountains and deserts within reach of it — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there.
What we cover
- How to get to Muscat by air, sea and road, and how to get around a city fifty kilometres long.
- Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
- What to see — from the Grand Mosque and Mutrah Souq to Wadi Shab, Nizwa and the Wahiba Sands.
- Where to stay, from palace resorts to desert camps.
- When to come, and what each month actually feels like on the ground.
How we research
Opening hours, entry rules and journey times are checked against official sources, operators, transport companies and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide. Where a figure moves around — taxi fares, museum tickets, boat prices — we give a range and say so, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.
Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when a tour spends too long on the road, when a hotel is past its best, and when the free option is the better one.
How the site is funded
We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only way this guide is funded — there is no advertising, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
Opening hours change, visa rules change, hotels change hands. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Write to us on the contact page.
